Lost and Found – An Adventure

My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends – John 15:12-13

It was at 8 pm I begin to look for John’s friends if they know about John’s whereabouts.

Leona

Hello every one, here is a little introduction. Brother John and Sis Leona is a loving couple that has been part of the KAOG family for more than 25 years now!! – Editor

The Spine-Chilling Night

KAOG family will remember the terrifying 4th of November 2020 for some time. At 12:13 am, our Senior Pastor, Calvin Lee sent out an emergency prayer request across KAOG. Our dear brother John went for his usual mountain biking and was already missing for more than 5 hours. He couldn’t be reached and the last time he contacted Leona was around 6 pm.

so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it – 1 Corinthians 12:25-27

We were informed that a group of search mission team whereby brother Yap is also part of the team has been dispatched to look for brother John. According to Leona, there are many hurdles and obstacles even during the search itself. Our Pastor then calls for a group prayer for Bro John. It was past midnight but it did not stop the KAOG family, across ages and sections to come together to cry out to heaven for brother John! We literally cried out to God!

The kids were crying and asking for their dad because they know their dad never been this late. I cried too but I have peace, knowing God is with us.

John

Hi everyone! I am John Lu. Just a small pengenalan about myself. It’s been the 8th year since I started cycling. I have enjoyed all the friendships and communities that have been build all these years and thanks to their collaboration with other search parties, I can be found sooner! Before this, I’ve never got lost during my cycling adventure.

Cycling Adventure

I rode deep into the jungle and as I tried my best to find my way out I couldn’t find the same markings that I followed when I went in. What makes it even harder was the roads are steep so going back and forth is very tiring. I went up and down, up and down many times.

The situation became direr when I noticed not only my phone couldn’t receive any connections as I’m deep in the valley, it is going to switch off anytime due to low battery! As I watched the sunset,

I prayed and shout out to God.. Help me and keep me safe!

Found a place to rest

I rode over the waterfall and river, pushed my bike up and down, fighting tough big tree roots sprawled over uncharted roads with the agonizing hunger because dinner belum makan and I ran out of water. I drank from the stream water to stay hydrated. After long hours of walking in the river, I found a familiar pattern where I cross in the early stages. I went up the land and found back the marking where I found first. I decided to wait under a tree for the day to come so that I can make my way out.

Little did I know, God heard my prayer. At 3 am I heard people shouting for my name, it was Fam. I shouted back and the rescue rushed to check if I am alright! I am so glad to see everyone again.

Thank you guys for all the prayers, sleepless nights, and for forgiving me for this mistake of mine.

5am at police station with my wife

I want to say thank you so much for my cycling community, Thanks to my wife for staying calm, helping the rescue team to locate my last location through google, and also calling the authorities for help! Thank God my wife is also not mad at me when she came to pick me up from the police station with her friend. Truly everything that is meant for evil, turns into good! Praise Lord, I am rescued!!

I praise God for His protection and promises as He shields his children with the protection and saving me too.. LOVE YOU, God.. Love all of you!!!
